Uses
Use Turpentine as a solvent, for cleaning, increasing oil-based paint efficacy, furniture polish, and stain removing. Additionally, use it to clean up fresh spilled or splattered paint, given that whatever the paint has landed on is compatible (wont be damaged – do your research) with. I’ll be honest visual artist have a hard time finding pure gum spirits of turpentine these days. My first order through DIY was a little disappointing because their metal containers rusted and tinted the turp reddish. I communicated with them and said that future product would be in plastic or glass, which is what I got in this order. I also tested the turpentine to see if it would dissolve damar crystals, which only pine resin authentic pure gum spirits will do. The DIY turp successfully dissolved it so I am extremely happy with their product and will recommend them to other visual artist

There are so many formulations of “turpentine” out there, many of which are fouled with fillers made of petroleum, that I wasn’t sure where I could order the real thing, which smells like the pine trees from which it is extracted. I took a chance on DIYChemicals because their About page made them look like earnest folks who had had their own problems ordering quality chemicals, and founded a business to fix that problem. I was expecting to get 4-1gal plastic containers of turpentine, what I got was 4 boxes with 4 quart GLASS bottles in each box. 1 bottle has broken unpacking 1 box because it had to be packed in bubble wrap because it was GLASS. The turp is great. didn’t see a need for the glass, 4 boxes, quart glass bottles.
